Administration of essential medication is managed by our school nurse with assistance from support staff. Where long term medications are required to be administered at school, a doctor's letter is required in addition to our Assisted Medication Form. All medication supplied to the school needs to be provided in its original packaging and prescription only medication requires the prescription label to be attached. Pharmacy-made blister packs are also acceptable.
It is essential that all medications be administered by staff, and that students do not self-medicate. Any medications required by a student, including Paracetamol, Nurofen or antibiotics needs to be left with the school nurse for safe storage and administration.
Where medications are required to be administered on camps, we ask parents to consider sending only medications that are of vital importance for the health of their child and to provide the forms and medications well in advance of the camp.
Where a student has an illness that is likely to impact upon his/her daily activities, e.g diabetes, epilepsy, asthma, anaphylaxis or severe allergies, an "Action Plan" should be supplied to the school, to be renewed annually or whenever amended by the treating doctor.
If your son/daughter is unwell at the start of the day, we request that they be kept at home rather than risk spreading an infection at school or causing unnecessary distress to the student. Children with infectious conditions should be kept away from school for the duration of the contagious period.
Students must come to Reception for assessment if feeling unwell. Students are not to contact parents directly to be picked up.
